Ski Trip 2011 – Cormayeur, Italy

On 30th January 2011, a group of students and staff boarded a coach ready to go on an „adventure. This „adventure was going to be a trip to Cormayeur in Italy. We were going skiing and snowboarding. Everyone was buzzing, mainly because for a lot of us it was going to be our first time skiing or snowboarding and for a lot of people, their first time in Italy.

The coach journey was long and tiring, but the excitement of everyone carried us through the journey. When we arrived in Italy, after we had gone through the Mont Blanc tunnel, we all got off the coach and headed up the mountain to get our boots and skis or snowboards fitted before going to our hotel. The hotel was lovely and there we met our co-ordinator, Sam, who spent the week with us, organising when and where we had to be and generally keeping us all in order!

After that, the week flew by with everybody loving the views, the snow, the food and of course the skiing and snowboarding. Unfortunately, there were a few minor injuries along the way but the injured parties still had a good time and an enjoyable week.

Every evening, we had an „après ski activity which was always great fun. We did tubing, which is sliding down an icy track in a rubber ring, karaoke (which Mrs Hide loved), a disco and of course, Pizza Night!
When it came to leaving, nobody wanted to go. Everybody loved Italy way too much, but we all lethargically boarded the coach for the long journey home.

All in all, the week was amazing and if I could, I would go back tomorrow and Im sure that everyone else that went would say the same thing. It would never have happened without Mr Roderick, Mrs Hide, Miss Connolly, Mrs Cook, Mr Yates, Mr Cheek, our lovely coach drivers and Sam, our Interski Co-ordinator. On behalf of everyone on the trip, I would like to say „thank you for an amazing week that none of us will ever forget.
